I Modelled Underwater for Iris Van Herpen

Walking underwater means forgetting the weight of the body, relearning how to move in a space where everything is slowed down and amplified. For Iris Van Herpen, under the direction of Julie Gautier, I dove into a world where fashion becomes suspended matter. Filmed in a pool in Italy, this four-minute short film captures weightlessness, the precision of movement, and the fusion between the body and the garment. Every movement, designed for water, stretches into an ethereal choreography, where the fabric floats like a second, living skin. A hypnotic performance, blending dance, fashion, and total immersion. Challenge accepted.

"Carte Blanche": Fashion in Suspended Motion

The film

« The three women begin by merging together, creating a painting of skin and textures, before one ventures alone into the depths of her own consciousness, dancing a path of liberation and resilience. »
— Iris Van Herpen

This film, created by Van Herpen and Gautier, is much more than just a visual performance: it’s an ode to feminine resilience, a tribute to the strength of women around the world, with a special focus on Iranian women. The symbolism of water, ever-present, immerses the female forms in a choreography that defies control, telling a journey of resistance, solitude, and invincibility.
